"Recycle" via
If you don't, you should!
In case you haven't heard of it, this is from the description on their website:
It's ... people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. ... Membership is free.My sister told me about this a long time ago, but it took a few years and a reminder from Chris' sister for me to join the network.
How I do it: I started a yahoo account so that I could join our local Freecycle group (which works through yahoo groups) and generally keep my yahoo account open in a tab on our browser. I initially signed up for the alerts/emails to come in an abbreviated journal, but I have since changed that setting so that I receive an email for each alert sent to the group. I don't sit at the computer all day, but when I do periodically use our computer I can quickly browse the subject lines of the new emails and see if there is anything we could use.
We were able to get this lovely jogging stroller:
(Which has a small stow that is apparently large enough to hold a small child)
And these Addie-size chairs (which induced squeals of delight in our little one!):
!!! Oh my goodness. I love the chairs. I've been wanting/needing? some! I'm a "member" of freecycle, but I don't really know how to use it. Maybe I'll have to try harder! Great finds! :)
ReplyDeleteWe love our freecycle group! Love the little chairs..how cute!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE FREECYCLE
ReplyDeleteWait you got those all for free?? Or do you have to trade with people?
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you finally joined! ^_^ I've appreciated any number of "finds" in Freecycle. It's a blessing.
ReplyDeleteBecky, you do NOT trade. No money exchanges are allowed. It's ALL free. Basically, people put things up there that they don't want/need anymore. Maybe they could sell it to make some money, but they prefer to share it with someone who would really like/need it. So, they give it away. AWESOME program! ^_^
Nice finds! You've gotten better stuff off of it than I have! I'd better go check my account immediately. :) I'm glad Addie appreciates the stroller as much as you!
ReplyDeleteI love Freecycle too:) I'm not sure Arizona freecycling is as awesome as Wyoming's was, but that's ok... I have 4 years to turn it around! Great finds!
