Where Has My Baby Gone?

I have, especially as a child, often sung these words:

I have a family here on earth. They are so good to me. I want to share my life with them through all eternity. Families can be together forever Through Heavenly Father's plan. I always want to be with my own family, And the Lord has shown me how I can. The Lord has shown me how I can.

Today is Addie's birthday. During this last year these lyrics have taken on more meaning than I ever thought possible. With all of our knowledge and experience combined, when Chris and I welcomed Addie to our family I don't think we really knew much about what it would take to be parents or how the responsibility would change us. It has been a wonderful year full of changes as we have learned much about ourselves, each other, and our roles and responsibilities as parents. We are so grateful for Addie, she brings love, light, and laughter to our family and the world in ways Chris and I can't.

We found out shortly before she was born that we would be moving to Kazakhstan for ten months and when we shared our news a lot of people wondered how our baby would fare being in such a far away country. Her happy nature has been a blessing in so many ways, but especially as we moved across the world.

  3. Happy Happy Birthday BABY! She's still a baby to me... wait until your second is one, that one won't seem nearly so old at one even if s/he is doing as much or more! :)

  6. evelyn--i was so happy and touched to get your comment, and it was my joy and pleasure to see you so beautifully succeed at your labor. i am so happy that you have your dear addie and that you have progessed enough to write the story of your labor down. it took me over a year to muster the strength to get mine on paper. i'd love to read yours: noraharrison@gmail.com. i'd consider it a great honor. i'll send you mine, too, if you're interested--
    love,
    nora
