Amused in Astana

There were a few sites during our tour of Astana that were just plain FUN.

First, would have to be this children's play area. (Where we come from, Babylon is a bad thing...)
Second, we visited the largest aquarium as far inland in the world. There are portions of the aquarium where you walk through tunnels and watch as various fish swim above and all around you. There were at least two scuba divers swimming around playing with the fish and Addie was able to get the attention of both. It was fun to see the guys all decked out in their gear, waving at her.
Addie loved the aquarium. If you have any doubts, just check out her tongue in the picture below. Our aquarium experience made us realize why parents would spend a lot of money to take their kids to various museums and amusement parks... but I think we'll fight the urge to go overboard, right now a stray cat amuses her about as much as the scuba man.
Third, the building that houses the aquarium has a bunch of different restaurants, rides, games, and little shops inside. As we were walking to the aquarium side we stopped at a fountain with goldfish in it. Addie decided she didn't want her cracker anymore so we started feeding it to the fish so she could see.
Keep in mind that we were in a very large, rather dimly lit room, but this was the third time we dropped some of the cracker in the pool.

(A few seconds into the video we threw in the cracker and the fish swarm it! The first time we did it the fish were practically splashing us with water. I've never seen anything like it before.)

  1. my computer shows most of your videos too dark. I saw a video or 2 on another computer and it was lighter. Dark or right light. I heard your voices. With pleasure. love, mom

  2. Thats crazy! Gee, I wonder if they ever feed those fish? The tongue thing on Addie is hilarious! Who needs a talking child when all you need is a tongue itself to know how they feel?

  4. Lisa, we're pretty sure they had to be starving. I've never seen a mad dash like that in my life. We all jumped back when it happened the first time.
