Visit to Mimi's

I somehow managed to not get too many pictures of our visit to Mimi's, but here are two with Addie:

JJ was anxious to hold Addie, and as soon as Kelsy was given her turn (before JJ) he said, "My turn now..." =)

Uncle Josh was very willing to share his sunglasses with Addie, though I'm not quite sure how she felt about that! =)

I took the long way home to avoid traffic and ended up in smoke instead! As Caroline told the kids earlier, North Carolina is on fire... what looks like fog in this picture is actually smoke.

Sleeping Beauty...

And a few awake shots too! =)

Just Addie

She's our little angel!

Check that last picture out again... yep... her u.c. stump is gone--she's so advanced! ;) It fell out today when I was cleaning it. At first I was so scared, thinking I'd done something wrong! =)

Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins

Later Sunday afternoon, Addie was introduced to my brother Josh, his wife Caroline, and their two kids, Kelsy and JJ. It was a fun visit, especially because it is/was a kind of preparation for when their little brother comes (he's due in Oct).

A discussion of Addie's little feet...

A comparison of little feet...

An investigation of that black belly button...

This is such a funny picture! If you look closely you can see what is being discussed... it's what Josh is looking at and what both Caroline and Kelsy are pointing at...

Look at those little hands!

JJ really wanted Addie to have some toys to play with...

Mimi & J-Pa

We received a visit from my parents on Sunday, when they were introduced to their newest grandbaby.

Addie and Her Daddy

Chris wanted to record video with Addie for her Gramma, who is very far away. I think our other family who lives far away may appreciate this too, but all viewers should understand that the funny thing about this video is that Addie is asleep.

She's not doing anything.

And we know it.

Just thought I'd make that clear. =)

What a Sweetie!

We are in love with our little girl! Here are some pictures of her and all her cuteness! These days... that may be the most of what you get... pictures... and they may all be pretty much the same... but to these doting parents, each one deserves a glance =D

Addie had her first appointment with her pediatrician yesterday. When we left the hospital on Thursday she weighed about 7 lbs 2 oz... and yesterday she was 8 lbs 2 oz! She is (obviously) doing very well!!! =)
This seems to be her favorite pose... She will often bring both hands to one side and have both her little fists tucked under her head. =)

Neglected to Mention...

Friday was my last day at work! It was a little bittersweet. I am excited to bring the baby in to show off though...

We Had a Visitor!

Chris' sister, Kaitlyn, is on her way to a language study abroad program and planned her flights so she could take a slight detour and visit us on the way. She flew into the DC area on Friday and then managed to travel here Friday evening.

We had a really good visit... it was a lot of fun to spend time with her, and I know Chris was especially pleased to visit with his sister. His work schedule caused him to miss most of the Friday-Saturday time with Kaitlyn... and caused him to be even more distracted/anxious about getting home from work! =)
Kaitlyn was really hopeful that Baby Pea would make his/her debut before she arrived, or at least early on in her visit... She even seemed to enjoy/encourage our jokes about pressure points, trampolines, etc. to naturally induce labor... until about noon on Sunday, when she realized Baby Pea's arrival could conflict with Chris driving her back to the airport today! =)

And... just to make you jealous... we have to include a picture of the gift she made for Baby Pea. Although I think it is very cute, I think I most appreciate how it makes me smile/laugh...

Our Neighbor

We have a furry neighbor that we've seen once in a while... but never very close-up. We aren't exactly sure what it is, although we had previously decided it was a groundhog/woodchuck.

Kaitlyn and I spotted it waddle-running in our backyard on Saturday and I was later able to hunt it down for some pictures...
Kaitlyn wondered if it's name was Zeke... and though I don't think this is its normal residence, I think that may be what we call it from now on...

As of Friday

I am nearly 4 cm dilated... It could be soon....!!! =) I'm beyond uncomfortable, so we're at least hoping it will be soon...

Saturday

This past Saturday I made it down to Virginia Beach for a baby shower of a friend. I was able to get down there early and spend much of the afternoon with my mom, sister-in-love Barbara, and we were even graced with a visit from Monica, who I haven't seen since New Years. It was fun to sit and chat and enjoy one another's company. After the baby shower I went back to my parent's and got to see my nephew JJ... who was exceptionally cute with his "big-boy" sunglasses... so I took a couple of pictures, which you will now be graced with... =)

As of Friday

I am 3 cm dilated, 50% effaced (or as the doctor said "thinned out"), and the baby is at zero station... though it was noted that the doctor at 34 weeks put me at +1 or +2 station. (If that's really where I was, it may explain the "early" pregnancy walking, previously referenced.)

We have located a trampoline in our ward and may be utilizing that in the near future... ;D

Embrace the Waddle

There comes a point in a woman's pregnancy when walking "normally" becomes uncomfortable, difficult, and yes, even impossible. While I feel like I am able to walk "normally" most of the time, I have had some definite periods when walking has been/is uncomfortable. I previously mentioned around week 34 that the baby had "dropped". Along with that came a lot of discomfort and difficulty when walking. While I was sometimes able to walk in my "normal" fashion, I had to slow down considerably. It was around that painful time that the change in my walk was noted (as quoted in the previous post). I suppose I'm a little prideful, but I felt like that was something of a challenge to make my walk as normal as possible--which I've mostly done (or think I've done)--with a few breaks as the body/pain requires...

I had an interesting experience yesterday as I was walking from my desk to the restroom (is the destination a surprise?). I realized that when I walked with my feet a little wider than normal the pressure and intermittent pain while walking lessened. With that realization came an interesting change: I don't care what I look like, I'm going to walk however is most comfortable. if I can walk fast and normal--and it's comfortable--then so be it. But for the time being, I feel that it is perfectly acceptable and reasonable to waddle.

So I will waddle. =)

An Excuse to Insult

A funny thing about being pregnant is that your body (and the many changes made the duration of your pregnancy) becomes the object of observation for pretty much everyone you know or come in contact with. Everyone seems to enjoy making comments about the changes/"features" they observe, and it seems each person feels that he or she is the first or the only person to notice whatever it is they notice. Most people also seem to feel that pregnancy is the perfect opportunity to tell someone the most insulting things about their changing appearance... because it's due to their being "temporarily" pregnant after all, and it's not like they'll stay that way, right...

I think I have been lucky enough to get more compliments than insults… but… to share my favorites…

"You must be having a boy, because your nose is wider."
"Your whole face has changed."—This is not a "you're glowing" reference.
"You are definitely walking like you're pregnant now."
