July 26th
We chose our wedding date and then learned that it was Chris' Grandpa & Grandma's anniversary as well as the anniversary of his Uncle Boyd & Aunt Holly. They all thought it was great that another generation chose that special day, and we agreed! Our photographer even took a picture of U. Boyd and A. Holly coming out of the temple holding hands, it was so fun! They all talked about how neat it was to spend their anniversary in the temple when a loved one is being married. I couldn't agree more! This year, we spent the evening of our first anniversary in the temple with my brother Ben and his lovely wife Barbara for their sealing! We are/were so glad to share this special day with them!!

So here's to a year! Here we are THEN:

Orientation
Our move to the DC area was perfectly timed... the day after we drove up we attended the orientation for Chris' research grant. We really enjoyed the orientation, which was 3 days long, and we learned a lot in preparation for our trip.
I think one of the best things about it was having people react with excitement and encouragement when they saw us with little Addie and learned we were taking her abroad with us to Kazakhstan (rather than the masked or outright horror reaction which seems to be somewhat common).
We took this picture to catch Addie's sleepy eyes... she was trying to keep them open, but they were very heavy! If you look closely, I don't think her eyes are the only sleepy ones here!! =)
I was taking notes during the tax session of the orientation (which was extremely boring by-the-way, I was writing things I already knew to stay awake!) when Chris stepped out with Addie. She wasn't fussy, by any means, Chris admitted he needed a nap! This is what I found when the session ended. =)

Movin'... Movin'...
No move with an open-bed truck would be complete without a good ol' torrential rainstorm. I mean, really.

Don't worry though, while Daddy, Uncle Josh, and GramaLisa got soaked trying to cover our things, little Addie slept away!

The Weekend of the 4th
We decided to bless Addie the first Sunday in July, which would mean we would be able to have my family close by and Chris' mom and sisters with us. It would also be our last Sunday in Williamsburg...
About a week before the blessing Chris "suggested" and sold his sister Marne` on the idea of her driving down with her husband James and daughter Olivia and being here for the weekend.

On Saturday, we took a little trip to Colonial Williamsburg. It was a lot of fun. Dora was sung to by a "colonial slave" and I think she loved it.
One thing I will miss about Williamsburg is seeing guys dressed like you see below at Subway, Food Lion, etc. The first time I saw one of these guys at the store I had to do a double-take...

We were able to have a good visit with all of the family, and it was nice to have so many (though not all) of our loved ones with us when we blessed Addie.

A Visit From Family
Early July we were able to have a visit from family!
Chris' Mom and his sisters Clarissa and Dora spent their first week in the states with us. I was able to see how they recovered from jet-lag... and get a few tips. Hopefully it will help when we take our trip to KZ...!I'm going to try and catch us up on pictures... we'll see how this works out...
