I think one of the best things about it was having people react with excitement and encouragement when they saw us with little Addie and learned we were taking her abroad with us to Kazakhstan (rather than the masked or outright horror reaction which seems to be somewhat common).

Orientation
Our move to the DC area was perfectly timed... the day after we drove up we attended the orientation for Chris' research grant. We really enjoyed the orientation, which was 3 days long, and we learned a lot in preparation for our trip.

We took this picture to catch Addie's sleepy eyes... she was trying to keep them open, but they were very heavy! If you look closely, I don't think her eyes are the only sleepy ones here!! =)
I was taking notes during the tax session of the orientation (which was extremely boring by-the-way, I was writing things I already knew to stay awake!) when Chris stepped out with Addie. She wasn't fussy, by any means, Chris admitted he needed a nap! This is what I found when the session ended. =)

Movin'... Movin'...
No move with an open-bed truck would be complete without a good ol' torrential rainstorm. I mean, really.

Don't worry though, while Daddy, Uncle Josh, and GramaLisa got soaked trying to cover our things, little Addie slept away!

The Weekend of the 4th
We decided to bless Addie the first Sunday in July, which would mean we would be able to have my family close by and Chris' mom and sisters with us. It would also be our last Sunday in Williamsburg...
About a week before the blessing Chris "suggested" and sold his sister Marne` on the idea of her driving down with her husband James and daughter Olivia and being here for the weekend.

On Saturday, we took a little trip to Colonial Williamsburg. It was a lot of fun. Dora was sung to by a "colonial slave" and I think she loved it.
One thing I will miss about Williamsburg is seeing guys dressed like you see below at Subway, Food Lion, etc. The first time I saw one of these guys at the store I had to do a double-take...

We were able to have a good visit with all of the family, and it was nice to have so many (though not all) of our loved ones with us when we blessed Addie.

A Visit From Family
Early July we were able to have a visit from family!
Chris' Mom and his sisters Clarissa and Dora spent their first week in the states with us. I was able to see how they recovered from jet-lag... and get a few tips. Hopefully it will help when we take our trip to KZ...!I'm going to try and catch us up on pictures... we'll see how this works out...

To Tempt You
Hello!!! I hope you've missed our posts as much as we have missed putting them up! We made our move from Williamsburg on July 8th and no longer have the convenience of internet access at home. While I can take our laptop to the local library and get online there, little Addie has to cooperate and LET me do things in order to get some posts up. We're still working on the cooperation part.... =)

I'm not sure how much time I have so here's at least one post and one picture to tempt you... Hopefully more to come (maybe even right after this one). This picture was taken after Addie was blessed, July 6th. She is wearing the same dress I wore when I was blessed and the hat, sweater, and booties are compliments of my talented sister Tori. Again, I know I'm partial, but really... isn't she soooo cute!?!? =)

Last Week
These pictures are from last week. At Addie's last appointment (a week ago) she had gained another 10 oz! And although this may not really be possible... I swear she's gotten heavier overnight!
On Thursday we drove down to Virginia Beach and took a detour to Spiegel so I could introduce Addie to all my coworkers. There was literally a swarming of the baby once word got around that we were there... but when things settled down she got to visit with Tom.
One of the funny things about visiting work was seeing how quickly (& dramatically) things change. Although it had been just over two weeks since I left there was at least one person leaving and cubicle changes like you wouldn't believe! One of the funniest changes was seeing Malachi, one of my coworkers, in his new office. As he received a promotion to manager some time ago he has been due for his own office. Elvis (Malachi's boss) wanted him in the office next to him but that was the office I used for my lunch-time naps... and I kidded with them that they couldn't move him in until after I left. Well... apparently, that's why Malachi didn't have his own office until my departure. Elvis... with all his big brother teasing... was looking out for me. =)
Thursday night Addie got to meet her Uncle Ben (not-to-be-mistaken-for-rice) and Aunt Barbara.

Addie and her Daddy... quite likely her biggest fan. =)

Me and my girl!
It's a little hard to see, but Addie sometimes likes to lift her legs when she sleeps--and hold them there! She must have abs of steel, because that's pretty tough... ;D
